MARAWI CLAIMANTS: Sen. Cynthia Villar asks Marawi Compensation Board chairperson Maisara Dandamun Latiph the total number of Marawi claimants and the total compensation that were already disbursed during the proposed 2025 budget presentation of the Marawi Compensation Board Tuesday, September 3, 2024. “I just want to know how many are the claimants, how many (claimants) you have finished and how many years have you been doing it,” Villar asked. Latiph told the senator that there are 14, 495 claimants with a total compensation budget of P31.8 billion. She said the board is targeting to approve 2,160 claims with a yearly award amounting to P5.8 billion. Latiph said lack of personnel is hindering the disbursement of the compensation. She said the board has requested for 51 more personnel to be able to compensate 3,000 claimants annually and accomplish their target by June 2028. (Senate Public Relations and Information Bureau)
