International nuclear supply chain forum to highlight PH's nuke thrust

Manila will host the Philippine International Nuclear Supply Chain Forum (PINSCF) from November 13 to 15, highlighting the nation's goal of leading Southeast Asia in deploying nuclear energy technology, the Department of Energy (DOE) said.

The PINSCF is expected to attract the attention of local and foreign stakeholders. The three-day forum, to be held at Solaire North in Quezon City, will discuss the latest technology and innovations and share best practices in the nuclear energy industry.

"We are bringing together companies from countries with proven track records in building and maintaining the critical infrastructure needed by the energy sector. This forum will showcase their innovations and best practices, offering the Philippines the opportunity to learn and benefit from their experiences," the DOE said.

Power generation companies, government agencies, embassies, academia, and other key sectors are expected to participate in the forum.

Stakeholders from the United States, Canada, France, Japan, and South Korea, among the leading countries in nuclear technology, will provide insights for the Philippines as the government explores atomic energy for a balanced, resilient, and low-carbon energy system to drive sustainable economic growth.

"As the world transitions from fossil fuels, each nation is weighing options for achieving energy independence and security. This forum allows us to engage with the global community while ensuring that our stakeholders are part of the discussions," the DOE said.

Interested participants should register through www.nuclearforumph.com. For more information, participants may contact the Nuclear Energy Program Secretariat at nep-iac.secretariat@gmail.com.

Under the Philippine Energy Plan, the government plans to build 1,200 megawatts (MW) of nuclear energy capacity by 2032, increase it to 2,400 MW by 2035, and reach 4,800 MW by 2050.
