House execs laud successful capture of Quiboloy inside KOJC compound

Members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP) who captured fugitive religious leader Apollo Quiboloy inside the Kingdom of Jesus Christ’s (KOJC) sprawling compound in Davao City Sunday received a commendation and pat on the back from House leaders.

“The long arm of the law finally caught up with him. At least now he can defend himself from all the charges hurled against him,” said Davao De Oro 1st District Rep. Maria Carmen “Maricar” S. Zamora, also a former Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) member.

She said he will have the opportunity to refute whatever accusations the victims had against him.

“If you’re telling the truth, I don’t think you should be afraid of anybody, because it simply means God is on your side. It’s that simple,” added Zamora, vice chairperson of the House Committee on Appropriations.

House Deputy Majority Leader Jude Acidre remarked that “justice finally prevailed over this case.” “He cannot hide forever. He should face his alleged victims so that justice may be served.”

“In the first place, pastor Quiboloy should not be hiding behind the so-called skirt of his loyal followers. If he is really innocent, then he should face them in any forum – come hell or high water,” said Acidre, chairman of the House Committee on Overseas Workers Affairs.

According to them, they are glad that Quiboloy will finally have his day in court where he can show to the whole world that he is not afraid to face the charges.

“Men of cloth like Pastor Quiboloy should be leading by example. As far as I’m concerned, his consistent refusal to respect authorities is one question his followers should doubt because it just defies logic,” Zamora said.

“This is because anybody whose conscience is clean should, at the very least, be man enough to face his accusers. What is there to be afraid about? Most especially if he really believes he is being persecuted,” Acidre reiterated.
