Gov’t boosting youth’s employability

The Cabinet Cluster on Education is working on improving the employability of Filipino youth, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said Wednesday.

In an interview on Malacañang Insider, Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is implementing various programs to boost the employability of Filipino youth.

Among the government’s programs are the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES), the Government Internship Program, and JobStart.

“Tinitingnan kung paano mabibigyan ng akmang kasanayan ang ating mga mag-aaral para maihanda sila sa future work nila,” Laguesma said.

Laguesma noted that President Marcos has directed DOLE, the Department of Education (DepEd), the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to enhance the Senior High School curriculum.

Last month, the Chief Executive approved in principle the creation of a Cabinet Cluster on Education to carry out reforms in the education system for the benefit of every Filipino student and graduate.

The President has directed the agencies to devise a coherent and system-wide national integrated education and workforce development strategy starting from early childhood education to basic education, senior high school, and beyond. PND
