Sen. Cynthia A. Villar presides over the Committee on Agriculture, Food and Agrarian Reform for the continuation of the hearing on the proposed amendments to Republic Act 11203 or the Rice Tariffication Law, particularly extending the life of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF).
During Thursday’s hearing, July 4, 2024, Villar said the committee visited Isabela and Nueva Ecija as the biggest rice producing provinces in the Philippines and held technical working group and focus group discussion with the farmers.The committee also received several resolutions and support from various farmers’ groups.
“We would like to put on record that we received resolutions from farmers’ cooperatives and associations from different parts of the country, expressing their appreciation for the rice competitiveness enhancing fund and support for the extension of the Rice Tariffication Law,” Villar said.
