Email filing of pleadings in lower courts tstarts Sept. 1

MANILA – Starting September 1, trial courts will no longer act on any pleadings unless they are accompanied by an electronic transmittal via electronic mail, the Supreme Court (SC) said Wednesday.

This comes after the SC approved the guidelines to facilitate the transition to electronic filing as the primary method for submitting pleadings in first- and second-level courts.

This initiative aligns with the SC's broader goal of digitally transforming the judiciary, as outlined in the Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations 2022-2027.

Under the Guidelines on Submission of Electronic Copies of Pleadings and Other Court Submissions Being Filed Before the Lower Courts, litigants, and court users must send PDF copies of their submissions to the official email address of the court where the case is pending.

Official court email addresses will be accessible on the SC's website. (PNA)
