DTI urges cement manufacturers to get Tatak Pinoy certification

Updated: Jul 13

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has urged local cement manufacturers to apply for Tatak Pinoy certification as the government promotes Philippine-made products, especially in government procurement.

On Friday, the DTI said in a statement that it awarded the first Domestic Bidder’s Certificate of Preference (DoBid) to Republic Cement last July 4.

DoBid certificate guarantees that the product is locally made and also ensures that contractors for government projects are using non-imported materials.

“One of our main priority industries under Tatak Pinoy is manufacturing. Hence, we really want local manufacturing companies to apply for the DO-BID certificate so we can help them expand their market, boost growth, and enhance competitiveness,” DTI Undersecretary Rafaelita Aldaba said.

“It’s through private sector partnerships such as this that we’re truly able to achieve the objectives of our Tatak Pinoy mission,” Aldaba added.

Republic Cement’s products that were granted with DoBid certificate are Type 1TMH, Type 1 Cement, Type 1L Cement, Type N Cement, Type S Cement, and Type 2 Cement.

“With this, we can continue supporting the Philippine economy through the many jobs we create and maintain, sustaining livelihoods and building thriving communities. With this certification, we fully support the Philippine government in their thrust to communicate that supporting local is the key to a brighter economic future,” Republic Cement vice president for strategy Reinier Dizon said in a separate statement.
