MANILA – A second batch of 100 beneficiaries rendered cash for work (CFW) service on Sunday in the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) main disaster response hub in Pasay City, part of the continuing efforts to assist families and individuals affected by Super Typhoon Carina and the habagat (southwest monsoon).
In a media release on Sunday, Assistant Secretary for Disaster Response Management Group Irene Dumlao said the DSWD has started facilitating the provision of temporary employment under the CFW on Saturday, when the first batch of 100 beneficiaries were accommodated for the temporary job.
“As part of the holistic and proactive approach of the department to assist typhoon-affected locals, the DSWD provided cash for work assistance as a temporary source of employment to our affected kababayans (fellow citizens) from nearby areas in Metro Manila,” Dumlao said.
The beneficiaries help repack family food packs (FFPs) at the National Resource Operations Center.

Meanwhile, residents of Tinucan and Santa Inez, two isolated villages in Tanay, Rizal, have received their FFPs, also on Saturday.
The two villages were unreachable at the height of the super typhoon and the habagat.
On Friday, the government airlifted an initial 500 FFPs and another 2,500 boxes on Saturday, based on the instruction of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr to immediately assist the isolated communities, particularly those in the far-flung areas. (PNA)
