Senator Cynthia A. Villar presided over the Finance Subcommittee B hearing to discuss the proposed 2025 budget of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), amounting to ₱26.2 billion. During the budget hearing on Thursday, October 10, 2024, Villar emphasized the importance of DENR's budget for the fulfillment of its vital role in the conservation, management, and sustainable use of the nation’s natural resources.
“Through our deliberations today, we aim to ensure that the DENR proposed budget for 2025 will be utilized efficiently in fulfilling the responsibilities that fall under the mandate of the DENR,” Villar stated. “We must ensure that the funds are allocated effectively to address the agency’s critical functions, contributing to a nation that sustains its natural resources and ensures a clean and healthy environment for all,” she added.
The Senate Public Relations and Information Bureau also highlighted that the deliberations focused on the strategic use of resources to bolster the DENR’s capacity to manage the country’s environmental and natural assets effectively.
