Chinese teen sets 100m freestyle world record




ANKARA – Chinese swimmer Pan Zhanle broke the world record to win an Olympic gold in the men's 100-meter freestyle on Wednesday.


In the finals held at the Paris La Defense Arena, Pan, 19, swam the 100 meters in 46.40 seconds to break his own world record. It was the first swimming world record of Paris 2024.


In February in Doha, Pan set a world record in this field with 46.80 seconds.


Australian swimmer Kyle Chalmers finished with a time of 47.48 seconds to bag silver.


Romania's David Popovici took the bronze in 47.49 seconds.


The Paris 2024 will end on Aug. 11. (Anadolu)
