Cavite 4th District Rep. Elpidio "Pidi" F. Barzaga Jr. has passed away at the age of 74 in California, United States, his family confirmed.
He is survived by his wife, Dasmariñas City Mayor Jenny Austria-Barzaga, and his sons BM Kiko, Third and Enzo.
“Throughout his life, Cong. Pidi dedicated himself to serving the people of the Province of Cavite and the City of Dasmariñas with unwavering commitment and passion,” Austria-Barzaga posted.
“His dedication to education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation transformed lives and shaped the future of his constituents. He will be remembered for his compassion and relentless pursuit of justice,” she added.
She also requested prayers and support for their family during this challenging time, saying, "As we grieve his loss, we draw comfort from the many lives he touched and the enduring legacy of his work. We humbly seek your prayers and support."
Cavite 1st District Rep. Jolo Revilla III was among those who expressed condolences following Barzaga's passing.
It's noted that the late congressman had previously undergone open-heart surgery, as announced in October 2023.
