CA APPROVES CACDAC APPOINTMENT: Senate President Francis “Chiz” G. Escudero, concurrent chairperson of the Commission on Appointments (CA) leads the bicameral body in approving the ad interim appointment of Hans Leo Cacdac as secretary of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW). Escudero approved the motion after Cacdac's nomination was endorsed by the CA Committee on Labor, Employment, Social Welfare, and Migrant Workers. Several lawmakers also delivered their manifestation of support for Cacdac who assumed the post after the passing of former Secretary Susan “Toots” Ople in August 2023. Cacdac served in various capacities, including undersecretary of the agency, executive director of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), executive director of the Philippine Employment Administration (POEA) and undersecretary of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). In the private sector, Cacdac was the associate lawyer of the Sentro ng Alternatibong Lingap Panligal (SALIGAN). (Senate Public Relations and Information Bureau)
