BI arrests Chinese fugitive wanted for kidnapping

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) arrested a 37-year-old Chinese national wanted for kidnapping in an enforcement operation in Parañaque City last Sept. 23.

The suspect, identified as Hu Yang, was apprehended in Brgy. Tambo, Parañaque City  coordination with Chinese authorities and the Parañaque City Police.

Hu, who also carries the alias Lin Zihao, was tagged as a fugitive from justice for being wanted by the Public Security Bureau of Jinjiang City in China for kidnapping.

The suspect was said to be a member of a kidnapping syndicate that was notoriously known for torturing and killing their victims. Several of his accomplices were arrested earlier this year by the BI in Metro Manila and Pampanga.

“His arrest is a significant step in our ongoing efforts to apprehend foreign criminals hiding in the Philippines," said BI OIC Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado.  "We will continue to work with our counterparts abroad to ensure that those who break the law are held accountable,” he added.

According to Chinese authorities, Hu Yang’s passport had already been revoked.  The BI Chief said that Hu will remain under the custody of local police while facing a local case in the Philippines.
