Because why not?


“Why me?”


For some reason or another, I have been hearing a number of people who came to me for coaching, questioning the not-so-great space they’re in as of the moment.


I mean, I can’t blame them though. After all, who wants to be caught up amidst trying times and plans that have gone otherwise?


I had one standard reply to all of them though: what do you think is the reason behind all these things happening to you?


*Crickets chirping


Yep, none of them were able to answer because they were too focused on resisting the situation they’re currently in.


And this resentment stemmed from the belief that they were supposed to be invincible, that others are to be blamed and that it’s game over for them.


But then again, none of those assumptions were valid to begin with.


Can you relate to this?


Quickly ask yourself now: when was the last time you reacted in the same way?


Over a break up? When things didn’t go as planned? Missed an opportunity? Lost in a competition?


If you found yourself asking “Why me?” then, you were most probably trying to justify what happened to you.


But do you really have to? Or can you even do that at this point?


Not exactly.


It is what it is. And that’s ok.


You just have to embrace the truth in front of you whole heartedly no matter how painful or difficult it may be because that’s the only way you can learn and grow from the experience.


Yup, everything happens for a reason. And you can only know and appreciate each and every situation if you let go of your need to control the outcome.


So the next time you find yourself in an uncomfortable situation, instead of asking why it had to happen to you, ask yourself this:


“Because why not?”


Short, light and candid. This allows you to come from a space of acceptance and curiosity, which gives you the opportunity to discover the silver lining in your present state.


Think about purpose. Think about possibilities.


Believe that things are happening for you. Not to you.


By being open and optimistic, you get to unburden yourself from the unnecessary stress and numerous assumptions that prevent you from moving on and forward, as you truly understand why things had to fall apart so that what you truly need and deserve can fall into place.


It’s all about trusting yourself and the process more.


On that note, I’d like to leave you with these questions for your reflection this week:


What particular event or situation in your life are you resisting?


What do you think is it teaching you at present?


May you be at peace with what you discover.


Because, why not?
