700 students finish ALS in Valenzuela



For students and other special learners in Valenzuela City, the opportunity to finish a full curriculum is priceless.


And Mayor Weslie Gatchalian vowed to help them achieve personal accomplishments in education to open many windows of opportunity in life for these city residents.


Last Friday, July 5, Mayor Gatchalian exhorted some 700 graduates of the Alternative Learning System (ALS) of the Department of Education (DepEd) as they received their diplomas and certificates of completion of the ALS curriculum.


The graduation ceremony was held at the Valenzuela City Amphitheater.


According to the city information division, of the 700 students who finished the curriculum, 666 came from various schools in the city, while 34 are wards of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)-Valenzuela.


Interestingly, the graduates attended their classes in 45 various ALS learning centers that partnered with the city government. 


Also at the graduation ceremonies were Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, brother of the mayor, and Vice Mayor  Lorie Natividad-Borja, Jennica Sy who is in charge of the ALS program, officials of the Schools Division Office in Valenzuela City, and city councilors and barangay officials.
