Six crew members were successfully rescued after their motorboat capsized on Thursday night in the waters near Mantatao Island, Calape, Bohol.

The rescued passengers were identified as Atis Flores, 78; Federico Flores, 72; Sarah Sacedon, Dereck Flores, 48; Desiderio Flores, 42; and Devonne Flores, 15. All of them are residents of Mantatao, Calape, Bohol.

According to initial reports, the pumpboat named Five Brothers MBCA was traveling from Sibonga, Cebu to Mantatao Island, Calape, Bohol when it encountered unfavorable weather conditions, causing the motorbanca to become partially submerged.

Rescue operations were promptly conducted by personnel from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Sibonga substation, in collaboration with members of the Sibonga Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and local fisherfolk.

"The group had traveled to Sibonga to attend a relative's funeral. On their return journey to Calape, Bohol, they encountered large waves that led to the capsizing of the pumpboat," the PCG said in a Friday statement.
